Craniosacral & Bowen Therapy

Craniosacral (CST) & Bowen Therapy are techniques that are used to restore the natural rhythmic movement of cerebral spinal fluid found between the bones of the skull, the spinal cord and the sacrum.

What is the difference between CST & NST and how can they help me?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

Craniosacral therapists believe that the natural movements at the skull bones come from the membrane that lines our nervous system structures, namely the brain and spinal cord. The purpose of it is to aid the circulation of the cerebrospinal fluid throughout the central nervous system.

It involves very gentle pressure (fully clothed) applied to the skull, sacrum and body to improve the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid throughout the central nervous system.

Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST/Advanced Bowen)

NST is a comprehensive myofascial and vibrational energy therapy, safe to use on anyone, from new-born to the elderly with any condition from acute pain to chronic complaints. A treatment comprises of the application of sequence of specialised moves on the body each at a specific site. There is no formal manipulation, just a cross fibre manoeuvring of a muscle tendon or ligament using varying pressure and incorporating time delays to allow the body to respond.

How does the treatment work?

A treatment comprises of the application of sequence of specialised moves on the body each at a specific site. There is no formal manipulation, just a cross fibre manoeuvring of a muscle tendon or ligament using varying pressure and incorporating time delays to allow the body to respond. Operating from our base in Melbourne’s Bayside area, Balance’s resident Bowen/craniosacral therapist Elenor uses a combination of NST and craniosacral therapy to help you get your health back on track.
