Join the Balance Team Detox
It’s detox time for the team at Balance! All of our practitioners and staff are undertaking a two week Express Detox program (some of us are even extending it to 4 weeks!). We’ll be eating super cleanly, and supporting our insides to expel nasty toxins. It’s basically a spring clean for our bodies.
If you think you’d like to do a detox, but not sure how you will go on your own – come and join us! We are all in this together and the Balance team will offer lots of support through your detox – because we are doing it too! We will have a dedicated Facebook group where you will be given lots of inspiration, ideas and motivation – as well as a place to moan when you’re missing your coffee.
Detoxification is a process that your body undertakes every day to help eliminate toxins and restore a healthy balance. Your body is constantly exposed to toxins from the external world, as well as those created within. The human body is amazing in the way that it has evolved since prehistoric times to adjust to the ever changing world; but what happens when the toxins in our world are evolving faster than humans? This can increase the body’s toxic burden and impact on its ability to clear toxins.

What’s Involved in Detox?
Your individualised Detoxification Program will involve reducing the toxins that you are exposed to on a daily basis, whilst strengthening the function of your detox organs to process and eliminate toxins stored in your body. This is known as reducing the toxic burden and improving your toxic resistance, thereby enhancing your ability to cope with toxins.
You will follow a ‘clean eating’ diet filled with fresh, seasonal fruit & vegies… nothing out of a packet! A great way to prepare is to find your local farmers markets and stock up on fresh organic produce to get you through a weeks worth of meals – planning is key to success! Plus, you will be prescribed some herbal supplements with ingredients to help promote your detoxification abilities, such as:
- Milk thistle, green tea, gardenia: Stimulate the liver, enhancing the elimination of toxins
- Dandelion, ginger, meadowsweet: These herbs regulate healthy digestion by increasing digestive juices and enzymes
- Glutamine and zinc: Nutrients to protect and heal the gut
Our practitioners will recommend a Detox Program with just the right balance of dietary advice and herbal support, tailored to your individual health needs.

Chinese Medicine Support
At Balance, we combine Traditional Chinese Medicine with our nutritional programs for added support. Our Chinese Medicine practitioners may blend acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbal formulas to give your detox an extra ‘kick’.

This diet will be rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, low in animal fats, and contain alkalising and anti-inflammatory foods.
It is just as important to remove other “toxins” from your daily life that may be affecting your health. Stress is a major factor that may need addressing. Our Practitioners may also advise you to do an audit of toxic household chemicals by reviewing your personal care items, cleaning products, and plastics used for food containers and water bottles; encouraging healthier choices.
